An individual who spiked candy with sedative and gave them to children at a summer program in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged between nine and ten.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The elderly man, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in summer 2025.
The legal representative added: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the activities, with valid cause.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his stepson alerted the police about his worries.
She explained the defendant proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the situation.
Mrs Prior explained the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities again.
She stated Ruben then engaged in the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
